Where the Balkan Mountains meet the Danube Plain there is a place of stunning natural beauty. Discover the cascading Krushuna Waterfalls hidden in the lush green forests and the astonishing and enormous Devetashka Cave on this guided day trip.
This guided day tour will take you through the Balkan Mountains and into the north part of Bulgaria. You will discover some of the most magnetic natural phenomenons in the country which are still considered off the beaten track.
The tour starts in the morning with your guide picking you from your hotel. Your first stop for the day are the Krushuna Waterfalls. The ride takes two and a half hours during which you will travel on the motorway through the Balkan Mountains revealing stunning panoramas on both sides of the road. After reaching the parking spot it is time to stretch your legs and take the gentle trail that will take you around the cascading mystical green waters of the Krushuna Waterfalls. Even on the hottest days the deep forests provide shade and coolness and the running water invites you to sit on a bench and just watch it flow. This is exactly what you can do while you indulge on your specially made packed lunch. In the afternoon a short drive will take you to the other highlight of the day which is the nearby Devetashka Cave. A short walk from the parking will take you across the Osam river and into the biggest cave hall in Southeast Europe. It is so big that until recently it was a classified military location hiding fifteen enormous fuel storage tanks. Now it is a protected nature site and is an important bat sanctuary. After a walk around the cave it is time to head back to civilisation. After another drive through the majestic Balkan Mountains your guide will drop you off at your hotel in the late afternoon where this exciting day tour ends.
